Self Care During your Period

Self Care During your Period

It’s that time of the month again, and Cher-Mère is here to offer you virtual support and share some self care tips that help ease the pain of periods.  Taking care of yourself during your period not only eases physical discomfort but also nurtures your mental and emotional well-being. Moreover, it's a time to extend support to those who face period poverty, a widespread issue affecting many individuals right here in Kingston. This month, we're proud to announce our partnership with United Way to support period poverty. As part of our initiative, we're offering a special incentive at our spas: bring in a menstrual product to your appointment and receive $5 off your service. Let's delve into the realm of self-care during your period and explore ways to support those in need.

Rest and Relaxation: Give yourself permission to rest when needed. Take naps, walks, practice gentle yoga or meditation, and prioritize sleep to help your body recharge.

Hydration and Nutrition: Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water and herbal teas. Focus on nourishing foods rich in iron, such as leafy greens, legumes, and lean proteins, to replenish lost nutrients.

Gentle Exercise: Engage in light physical activity, such as walking or swimming, to alleviate cramps and boost your mood. Listen to your body and avoid intense workouts if you're feeling fatigued.

Heat Therapy: Apply a heating pad or warm compress to your lower abdomen to ease menstrual cramps and promote relaxation.

Emotional Support: Reach out to loved ones for emotional support and understanding. Don't hesitate to express your needs and seek comfort during this time.

While we prioritize self-care during our own menstrual cycles, it's essential to recognize that not everyone has access to the necessary menstrual products and resources. Period poverty affects individuals worldwide, limiting their ability to manage their menstruation hygienically and with dignity.

As part of our initiative to support period poverty, we invite you to participate in our campaign at the spas. Simply bring in a menstrual product: tampons, pads, panty liners, menstrual cups, period underwear, to your appointment, and you'll receive $5 off your service as a token of our appreciation. Together, we can make a positive impact and empower individuals to manage their periods.

Taking care of yourself during your period is not just about alleviating physical discomfort—it's about nurturing your overall well-being and extending empathy to others. By prioritizing self-care and supporting initiatives like United Way's efforts to combat period poverty, we can create a world where menstruation is no longer a barrier to health and dignity. Join us in embracing self-care and making a difference in the lives of those in need.
