There is a quiet, powerful longing that many of us carry, to be seen.
Not just looked at. Not just acknowledged in passing. But truly seen. Seen for who we are, beyond assumptions, beyond labels, beyond expectations placed on us by others. Seen for the value we bring into the world. Seen for the way we exist, move, care, create, and connect.
It would be a beautiful thing to live in a world where that kind of seeing was the norm.
A world where we could meet each other simply as people living authentically, showing up as our true selves without fear of judgment, exclusion, or harm. A world where identity, colour, culture, and expression are not barriers to belonging, but threads that enrich the fabric of our shared human experience.
On the National Day Against Transphobia, we pause to reflect on how far we still have to go to make that world a reality.
Because for many in the trans community, the experience of being seen is often complicated. It can come with risk. With vulnerability. With the constant navigation of spaces that may or may not feel safe. It can mean advocating for your own humanity in moments where it should already be understood. It can mean carrying the weight of being misunderstood, misrepresented, or unseen in ways that go beyond the surface.
And that is something that deserves our attention.
At Cher-Mère, we believe that care goes beyond treatments. It goes beyond products. It lives in how we show up for people. In how we hold space. In how we create environments where individuals can simply be without explanation, without apology.
We are not perfect, and we are always learning. But we are intentional.
We hope to create a space where everyone who walks through our doors feels something different. Something softer. Something safer. Something that allows them to exhale.
A space where you are not reduced to a category or defined by assumptions.
A space where your presence is welcomed without question.
A space where you can feel seen not for what makes you “different,” but for what makes you you.
Because at the end of the day, that is what most of us are looking for.
To be recognized in our humanity.
To be valued not because we fit into a certain box, but because we exist. Because we bring something into the world that only we can bring.
And while identity is deeply important, it shapes our experiences, our perspectives, our stories, it should never be the reason someone is denied dignity, respect, or care.
Everyone deserves to move through the world with a sense of belonging.
Everyone deserves to feel safe in their own skin.
Everyone deserves moments where they are not explaining themselves, defending themselves, or shrinking themselves but simply living.
In the spa, we witness small but meaningful transformations every day.
Not just in skin, or hair, or physical appearance but in energy.
We see people walk in carrying the weight of the outside world. Tension in their shoulders. Guarded expressions. A sense of holding back.
And then, slowly, something shifts.
A conversation. A quiet moment. A treatment that allows them to relax. A feeling of being cared for without expectation.
And in that space, even if just for an hour, they soften.
They settle into themselves.
They feel seen.
This is what we strive to offer not just as a service, but as an experience.
For our trans clients, for our LGBTQ+ community, for anyone who has ever felt like they had to edit themselves to be accepted this matters.
It matters to walk into a space and not wonder how you will be perceived.
It matters to not have to brace yourself for discomfort or misunderstanding.
It matters to be addressed respectfully, to be acknowledged as you are, to be met with care that is rooted in respect.
And this is not something that should be rare.
It should be standard.
But until it is, we continue to be intentional in how we create space.
The National Day Against Transphobia is not just about awareness. It is about action. It is about reflection. It is about asking ourselves how we contribute to the environments we are part of.
Are we creating spaces that feel inclusive, or just saying that we are?
Are we listening to experiences that differ from our own, or assuming we understand?
Are we challenging harmful narratives when we encounter them, or staying silent?
These are not always easy questions, but they are necessary ones.
Because change does not happen in abstract ideas - it happens in everyday actions.
In how we speak.
In how we respond.
In how we choose to show up for others.
At Cher-Mère, our commitment is simple, but meaningful.
We want you to feel loved.
We want you to feel seen.
We want you to feel appreciated.
Not for fitting into a mold, but for existing as your authentic self.
That is the energy we aim to bring into every interaction, every service, every product.
Because care, at its core, is about connection.
It is about recognizing the humanity in someone else and responding with kindness, respect, and intention.
We know that one space cannot change the entire world.
But we also know that spaces matter.
Moments matter.
Experiences matter.
If we can create even one place where someone feels safe, where they feel seen, where they feel like they can just be then that is something worth doing.
Today, we honour the strength, resilience, and courage of the trans community.
We honour the individuals who continue to live authentically, even in the face of adversity.
We honour the stories, the journeys, the identities that deserve to be recognized and respected.
We recommit ourselves to being part of a world that moves closer to that vision we all long for.
A world where we are seen.
Truly seen.
Not just for identity, or colour, or culture - but as people.
As individuals.
As human beings living, growing, and showing up as our true selves.
From all of us at Cher-Mère, we are grateful for the opportunity to care for you, to learn from you, and to create space alongside you.
Wishing you a day - and a world - where you feel seen, valued, and at peace in who you are.
With care, always -
