Indigenous Month

Indigenous Month

What I do know for sure is that I am always learning and that there is always more to learn. I am deeply grateful for those who have generously shared their knowledge of Indigenous ways of knowing and being. These teachings offer a richer, more connected understanding of wellness, community, and care - principles that align deeply with the values we strive to uphold in our spa practices.

We continue to respectfully acknowledge that the land on which we live and work, in what is now known as Kingston, Ontario, is the traditional territory of the Anishinaabe, Haudenosaunee, and the Huron-Wendat Peoples. This land is covered by the Dish With One Spoon Wampum Belt Covenant, a treaty of peace and mutual responsibility made between Indigenous Nations to share and protect the resources around the Great Lakes.

As a business rooted in wellness, we believe in honouring the principles of community care, reciprocity, and respect for the natural world, values embedded in Indigenous teachings. These values encourage us to not only offer treatments for relaxation or beauty, but to see wellness as holistic, relational, and connected to the land and spirit.

One of the ways we are putting this into practice is through our support of Indigenous-owned companies like Kebaonish teas, which are offered during your spa visit and available to take home. Kebaonish is an Indigenous and woman-led company that centres wellness through ancestral knowledge and the principle of Mino-Bimaadiziwin, “the good life.”

Our own Cher-Mère brand of products are handcrafted using traditional knowledge passed down through four generations of women in the Caribbean. These recipes are steeped in oral history, blending nature and science to nurture the body and spirit. Sharing this heritage with those who come into our space is part of our commitment to cultural continuity, storytelling, and authentic care.

Wellness is not one size fits all, and we recognize the importance of making space for diverse ways of healing and caring for the body, mind, and spirit. By embedding Indigenous ways of knowing into our offerings—whether through the intention behind our treatments, the products we choose, or the partnerships we build—we aim to honour a more inclusive and holistic vision of wellness.

Giving back is a pillar of what we do, and this month, we’re proud to support the Kingston Native Centre & Language Nest, which fosters cultural knowledge, community connection, and Indigenous language revitalization.
