Are you ready for March Break? Let’s learn about the differences between a bikini wax and a brazilian wax

What’s the difference between a bikini wax and a Brazilian wax?

The main difference is how much hair is removed.

A Brazilian removes all hair, or most of the hair down there.  There are several variations, we will go into detail!

A bikini wax will remove the hair along your bikini line.  Basically anything that might show outside of your bathing suit or underwear.

Bikini Wax

Bikini Line

This service removes the hair around the bikini line.

Bikini Full

This service meets bikini and brazilian halfway.  “With a bikini full, hair from your pubic bone and labia is removed, but the butt strip or area around the anus is not included.”

Brazilian Wax

The brazilian wax removes all hair however there are variations that will leave hair on the front of your pubic region.

Types of Wax Used in Intimate Services

At Cher-Mere we use hard wax and soft wax.  “Hard wax is applied directly to your skin, and no waxing strips are used.  Soft wax is applied to your skin using a waxing stick, and it’s removed with a strip.”  Choosing the right waxing type and method is up to you!  Our estheticians can help guide you through what service will be the most beneficial.

Is waxing painful?

Yes it usually is unfortunately.  If you are worried about the pain, take an over the counter pain medication before your appointment to help ease the process.

How to prepare for your waxing appointment

  1. Let your hair grow out!  If you shave let the hair grow for two weeks before your appointment.
  2. Don’t exfoliate excessively.
  3. Wear loose clothing.
  4. Take some pain medication.

Try to relax and if you have any concerns feel free to talk with your esthetician before hand.

After your waxing appointment

You might notice some redness, pain and swelling all depending on the type of skin you have.  Don’t worry these symptoms will subside in a few hours.  Make sure to follow these tips to ensure a speedy recovery:

  1. Avoid any exercise or strenuous activity.
  2. Avoid hot water on the area.
  3. Apply cold to the area.

We want to make sure that you feel confident coming out of your wax appointment.  Feel free to leave a comment with any questions you might have.
