How to deal with Mask Acne 101

How to deal with Mask Acne 101

We all understand the struggle of having face acne, but a lot of us are now suffering from acne showing up under our masks. Trying to stay safe is a priority for all of us and wearing a face mask daily is helping reduce the spread of COVID-19!

Here are some steps to help eliminate pimples from showing up underneath the mask.

Step 1: Use a cleanser in the morning when you wake up and at night before bed. We have many cleansers made for your specific skin type. From our charcoal facial wash to chocolatte wash, moringa face wash, oatmeal facial wash, facial wash cleanser with cucumber and passion fruit, and our men's face wash, we have a cleanser for each person.

Step 2: Use a toner! Toner removes any last traces of dirt, grime, and impurities stuck in your pores after you wash your face. When added to your daily skincare routine and used regularly, it can have a major positive impact on the appearance and tightness of your pores

Step 3: Exfoliate daily to remove dead skin, build upon the skin, and clean from any impurities created from wearing a mask. Scrubs can be used twice a week as part of your skincare regimen.

Step 4: Are you using a face mask? Giving your skin some extra TCL once a week can help skin fight off any unwanted bacteria or build-up that occurs daily on the skin.

Masking helps all of your other skincare products work more efficiently. If you want your day lotions, serums, and nighttime products to be absorbed by your skin quicker and deeper, then a face mask is a must. By masking regularly, you can ensure that your toning, hydrating and protecting products will all perform better, providing you with the results you’re looking to achieve at a much faster pace.

Step 5: Use a moisturizer that helps moisturize and keep skin hydrated. If you have drier skin, our protector cream made with cocoa butter has a higher cream-based content is your best bet. For oilier skin types try our restorative moisturizer with cucumber and lavender.

Step 6: Regularly clean mask when using daily! Mask should only be worn one a day. How do I clean my face mask?

-Bandannas, face scarves, and masks made of fabric, such as cotton, can be washed in your regular laundry using hot water.

-Disposable, blue surgical masks cannot be laundered or cleaned and should be thrown away when it is visibly soiled or damaged.

-After laundering your fabric masks, tumble dry them in the dryer on a high setting.

You might consider using a non-scented laundry detergent if you are sensitive to perfumes so it is easier to wear the masks.

-You can also hand wash your mask, using hot, soapy water. Scrub the mask for at least 20 seconds, and dry them on high heat in the dryer.

Store clean masks in a clean place when you are not using them.

If you ever have any questions about your skincare routine do not be afraid to ask our staff for which Cher-Mere products would be great for your skin. Thank you for wearing your masks and helping stop the spread of COVID-19!
